? Jane Jones: Book of Kings 2 is Playtech partner Rarestone’s follow-up book slot, and it plays out on 5 reels with 10 win ways. The big twist here is the Night Mode feature, which gives you at least 3 Night free spins at random times. You can also trigger a Night bonus round, in addition to the standard Day feature. Both come with a chosen expanding symbol for payouts up to 4,000x.

Jane Jones: Book of Kings 2 Review
Rarestone Gaming is certainly not shy when they name their female explorer Jane Jones. Whether or not she is related to one Indiana Jones we do not know, but the font spelling the heroine’s name certainly is. Book of Kings 2 is not very similar to the first game, except for the fact that both are Ra clones with book of mechanics, of course.
We liked the original game due to the massive potential offered by the 3x bonus round multiplier, but Rarestone has taken a different turn here. The potential is actually a bit lower than what has long since been established as the “Book of norm”. However, you will get a lot more free spins in this game than in most similar slots out there. This is due to the Day and Night mode feature, and we’ll explain how all that works below.

By default, Book of Kings 2 plays out in Day Mode, but it can switch to Night Mode on any given spin. When this happens you will benefit from at least 3 Night Mode free spins, and you can land 2 Night Book Scatter/Wilds to trigger the Night Bonus Round. This can only happen in Night Mode, while 3+ Day Book Scatter/Wilds in Day Mode will trigger the Day Bonus Round.

The Day Free Spins feature plays out in Day Mode only, and you trigger it by landing 3+ Day Book scatters anywhere on the same spin. You will get 10 free spins no matter how many scatters you land, and a symbol will be randomly chosen to become the special expanding symbol. Landing 3+ Day Book scatters during the feature awards 10 new spins.
You need only 2 Night Book Scatters to trigger the Night Free Spins feature. However, as mentioned above, they can only land during Night Mode gameplay. You get 5 free spins for 2 Night book scatters, while 3+ gives you 10 free spins.
A symbol will be chosen randomly to become the expanding symbol also here, and 2 or 3+ scatters awards 5 and 10 extra spins, respectively. In both bonus round modes, the expanding symbol does not need to land on adjacent reels to create winning combos. You also need only a minimum of 2 premium symbols to trigger the expanding symbol feature, if one of these is the chosen symbol. The royal symbols require a minimum of 3 symbols to land anywhere to trigger the expanding symbols win.
The 200 Spins Jane Jones: Book of Kings 2 Experience
The game switched dramatically to night mode after a while of base game grinding, and we landed the 2 Night Book scatters required to trigger the Night Free Spins. This happens around 0:40 into the 4-minute highlights video, and you can see how the feature plays out by hitting the play button.
Review Summary
The twist in the first Book of Kings was the possibility of a 3x multiplier boost during the bonus round. This tripled the potential compared to what most “Book of” slots offer. In this follow-up title however, Rarestone has done something totally different. The Night Mode offers random free spins out of the blue, that can also lead to a more easily triggered bonus round requiring only 2 Night Book scatters.
Of course, you also have the orthodox Day Free Spins feature, and in essence this game offers more free spins than other book slots. The drawback is the potential.
Jane Jones is worth 400x your stake for 5 on a payline, which means that a full screen during the bonus round pays 4,000x. This is lower than the “standard” 5,000x most book slots offer, which is the price you pay for more frequent free spins.Pros
- 3+ random Night Mode free spins
- Possibility of both Night Mode and Day Mode bonus rounds
- High volatility and 4,000x max win potential
Cons
- Potential is a bit lower than in most book slots
